Startup Weekend is an intense 54 hour event which focuses on building a web or mobile application which could form the basis of a credible business over the course of a weekend. The weekend brings together people with different skillsets - primarily software developers, graphics designers and business people - to build applications and develop a commercial case around them.

Startup Weekend Seoul Begins

At the time of writing (Day 2 around 8:30pm) looking around the open conference space, startup groups are in full development mode. The mood and feel of the participants right now is one of compete concentration and unity. Its one of the sights you see that makes your tummy nice and warm and reaffirms us that we are part of something very special.

A quick recap of the day before:

103 bright minds filled the NHN ZELZON TOWER in Jeong-ja. For folks new to NHN thats the company that owns ventures such as Naver and Enswers.

9 of the attendees were female (see there is a demand there ^^)

48 Pitches ranging from location aware apps to language learning tools were delivered. Unfortunately not being a Korean speaker, I missed out on a few of the finer points.
Best part of the pitching session had to be when one lady said “6 degrees of separation” and then the entire room gasped ^^ too much English in presentation!?

Voting took place and ideas where narrowed down to 10 of the very best ideas.

What where those ideas? Check out the intros to the teams below and stay posted for the final pitch and presentation.
It’s gonna be something special ^^
